Brothers, those who are in the distance
after immense waters, the nearby
me native Spain, all brothers because
speak this language is mine:
I say "love", I say "mama mia"
and over seas, mountains, plains,
- oh joy! - with Castilian sounds,
you get a sweet scent of poetry.
I exclaimed "friend", and the New World,
"friend" says the Echo, where
crosses across the Pacific and even sounds.
I say "God" and there is a deep cry;
and "God" in English, all answers,
and "God", only "God," "God", filled world.
Damaso Alonso was born in Madrid October 3rd 1898 and died in Madrid
